Two construction workers found themselves being forced to build a defence of their own today as they appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse and were slapped with a number of forgery charges.

The two men, Benvolio Valenski aka Roy Anthony Sewnarine of Betterhope and Ganesh Singh of Herstelling, were charged with forging a Guyana driver’s license and a Guyana National ID Card.

They two reportedly attempted to use the forged identification documents to apply for a Guyana passport.

The Court was told that the incident occurred earlier this year. The forged documents were in the name of Roy Anthony Sewnarine.

The Court also heard that Valenski made a false declaration as he applied for the passport in the name of Roy Anthony Sewnarine, knowing that the information he was providing to the Immigration authorities was false.

After listening to the facts of the matter, the two were granted bail in the sum of $300,000 each and the matter will continue later this month.
