Court knocked us down on every point in No-confidence case says AG

A dejected Attorney General, Senior Counsel Basil Williams today told reporters that the Government of Guyana will abide by the rulings handed down by the Caribbean Court of Justice in the no-confidence and GECOM Chairman cases.

Mr. Williams told reporters that the Government had always indicated that it will respect the ruling and it will do just that.

“In the case of the GECOM Chair, they said it was flawed and in saying it was flawed then they are saying he was not validly appointed”.

He said he will study the full judgement issued by the Court.

On the no-confidence case, Mr. Williams admitted that the Government lost all of its arguments before the CCJ.

“With the no confidence motions, the Court knocked us down on every point conceivable”, he admitted.

The AG said he will be meeting with the President later in the day when he returns from Bartica.
