“Don’t Stop the Progress”, Ramjattan urges

Outlining a list of achievements by the APNU+AFC coalition since assuming office in 2015, Alliance for Change (AFC) Leader Khemraj Ramjattan implored party supporters to “don’t stop the progress” as they head to the polls on the 2nd March.

“Don’t stop the progress,” was the phrase used to punctuate Ramjattan’s speech at the launch of the APNU+AFC Campaign launch at Durban Park.

The AFC Leader used his speech at the D’Urban Park venue to remind the thousands in attendance of what the government has been able to achieve since it assumed office. He spoke about advances in the security sector and the fight against criminality.

Ramjattan is the Minister of Public Security.

He also noted that the coalition has been able to transform Guyana in ways that are unimaginable and it is for this reason the APNU+AFC deserves another term.

“Our record of achievement in four years has outperformed the PPP’s 23 years. We raised the minimum wage from $35,000 to $70,000… we raised old age pension to $20,500… and offered VAT [Value Added Tax] exemption for small businesses…Don’t Stop the Progress” he urged.

Ramjattan also used the platform to provide a glimpse of some of the coalition’s plans, should it be reelected to office.

He noted that emphasis will continue to be placed on creating a green state which provides a prosperous life for all Guyanese.

“We will create a green and prosperous Guyana for all” he said, adding that a reelected APNU=AFC government will build bridges across the Corentyne and Essequibo Rivers, even with plans in the pipeline to build a new Demerara Harbour Bridge.

“We will create a unified Guyana where we are better connected with a bridge over the Demerara River and over the Corentyne and Essequibo,” he revealed.

Further, the AFC leader said that if reelected, the coalition is prepared to “turn the sod” on the bypass road from Diamond to Ogle.

“Our vision embraces diverse faiths and groups. We want a nation where the environment is protected for present and future generations” Ramjattan stated.

He noted that while young people continue to face challenges in advancing their ideas and dreams, the APNU+AFC will implement policies to curb these challenges.

“We want to ween the next generation away from cane cutting… a place where the PPP wants to put them back. One good term deserves another. Don’t stop the progress,” the AFC leader ended.  (by Ravin Singh)
