An 86-year-old who may have bumped her head during the emergency landing of that Fly Jamaica 757 aircraft at the Cheddi Jagan Airport, has died.

The woman, Rookhia Kalloo, passed away yesterday at the Georgetown Hospital after being taken there by relatives who said they could no longer afford the bills at the Woodlands Hospital, where they were told by doctors that there was not much more they could do.

Relatives of the woman explained that she was in the company of two other relatives heading to Canada, when the pilot was forced to turn around the aircraft and make an emergency landing at the Airport.

Just after the crash, Ms. Kalloo appeared fine, according to relatives, and accompanied them back home.

However, two days after, she reportedly lost her speech and mobility and was rushed to the private Woodlands Hospital. According to family members, at the hospital, the doctors said there was swelling of her brain and there was not much that they could do to ease the swelling.

At least six passengers were rushed to the hospital after the Fly Jamaica plane crashed through the perimeter fence of the airport after its emergency landing.

There were 128 persons on board the flight and they were all forced to use the emergency slides to get off the aircraft, once it came to a halt in a large build up of sand.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
