An ex-policeman who stole a policeman’s vehicle, but crashed it just after in Alberttown, has been arrested and will face charges as Police investigators step up efforts to break up what appears to be a carjacking ring.
In a statement, the Police Force said one of its officers had just just jumped out of his car to grab something at a nearby shop, when the ex-cop jumped in and sped off from the scene. He crashed a short distance away and was arrested.
And last evening just after 11:00pm at Victoria on the East Coast, Police ranks in C Division arrested two men in a Motorcar which had no registration plates and is suspected to have been stolen.
A third suspect was detained shortly after in connection with the same vehicle.
Over the past few months,there has been an upsurge in carjackings. The Toyota Allion and Premio are the most targeted.
Vehicle owners especially taxi drivers are being urged to be very cautious.
