A Festival City, North Ruimveldt man died at a city hospital while nursing a gunshot wound to his buttocks and another to the palm of one of his hands, after he was targeted in what police believe was an execution.
The incident took place just after 5 o’ clock this afternoon. The man has been identified as Christopher Molligan.
According to Police reports, the man was sitting on his front stairs when two men walked up to the front of his yard and fired several shots in his direction. The shooting forced neighbours and other persons in the area to scamper for cover.
The men, who did not hide their identities, escaped in a waiting motorcar.
Molligan was rushed to a city hospital where he was admitted and later died. It is unclear whether he recognised his attackers.
This latest shooting incident comes at a time when the Guyana Police Force is preparing to step up police patrols in the city and other parts of the country in preparation for the busy holiday season.
