Four Venezuelan nationals along with one Guyanese were today charged and remanded to jail for the murder of a mining camp manager and his security at Blackwater backdam in the Region 7 area.
The two men, Suresh Bachan and Steven Niles were hacked to death in their sleep between the 4th and 5th of August.
Their lifeless bodies were discovered by some other miners in the area.
In Court today, Guyanese national, 22-year-old Nicholas Caeser of Yarrowkabra Village, Linden Soesdyke Highway was charged along with Venezuelan Nationals, 25-year-old Juan Oscar Calderon Lopez, 24-year-old, Jose Ramon Tovar, 35year-old, Luis Miguel Monrroy and 47-year-old, Jhonny Gonzalvez .
They all appeared before Magistrate Delon Bess and were not required to enter a plea to the two murder charges.
According to the Police charge sheet, it is alleged that the five accused brutally attacked and murdered Suresh Bachan and Steven Niles two weeks ago at their mining camp.
The five have been remanded to jail and will make their next Court appearance in the new month.
The mining camp where the two men were murdered was operated by city businessman Kevin Faerber.
One of the murdered men was found lying in a hammock while the other was found on a makeshift bed.
A firearm that belonged to the security guard and other items were discovered missing from the mining camp.
