Two men who were on Saturday nabbed with just over three ounces of cocaine and fifteen pounds of marijuana have been sentenced to four years in jail and fined $240,000 each.
32-year-old mini-bus driver Stanley Mann and 28-year-old porter, Lawrence Harper appeared in Court this morning at Linden and pleaded guilty to the to two counts of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
With the guilty pleas, Stanley Mann of Industry, East Coast Demerara and Lawrence Harper of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, were slapped with the four-year jail sentence and fine on each charge. The sentences will run concurrently.
The two were arrested on the Mabura road in Region 10 during a Police roadblock.
The illegal drugs were found stashed in the vehicle and the two men were immediately arrested and charged.
