French Consulate in Guyana to begin receiving Schengen visa applications from next Monday

The European Commission Delegation in Guyana has announced that from next Monday, the 21st October, persons wishing to apply for Schengen visas will be allowed to do so in Guyana if the main destination is France.

The EU Delegation said the applications will be received over two days in every month.

The statement explained that visa applicants must complete their applications online by visiting https://france-visas.gouv.fr on the Suriname page, and make an appointment online also at https://consulat.gouv.fr/ambassade-de-france-a-paramaribo/rendez-vous?name=Visas%20Georgetown

The applications will have to be submitted to the Honorary Consulate of France in Guyana. That office is located at 46 First Avenue Subryanville, here in Georgetown.

The applications must include the completed and signed France visa application form, receipt of application, the applicant’s passport, photo, supporting documents, the application fee indicated on France visas and a pre-stamped FedEx envelope for the passport’s return from Suriname to the applicant’s address.

The Government has been pressing for the visa application process to be offered here over the past few years. An undertaking was provided two years ago that the issue would be examined. With the application process being offered in Guyana, travelers to France will no longer be required to travel to Suriname to submit the application. However, for travelers whose main destination is another country, they might still be forced to travel to one of the other visa centers in Suriname or Trinidad and Tobago.
