The Godbrother of the British teen who was murdered six years ago was today sentenced to death after being found guilty of the crime.

The 18-year-old British citizen Dominic Bernard was on vacation in Guyana in 2015 when he was murdered and his body buried in a shallow grave.

Today, the dead teen’s Godbrother, Aaron Hing was found guilty of the murder which took place in Berbice. Justice Sandil Kissoon immediately sentenced him to death for the crime.

His co-accused Staymon George was recently sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the crime.

The two men were arrested back in 2015 after the teen’s partly decomposed body was discovered in a shallow grave.  He was badly beaten to death.

The youth was in Guyana on a three-week vacation when he suddenly went missing.  His relatives traveled to Guyana and joined the search for him

Eventually, as the investigations widened, the Godbrother, Aaron Hing, and his friend were suspected of being involved in the teen’s disappearance.  They eventually led investigators to the site where the body was buried.

A post mortem examination revealed that he died from a fractured skull and a broken neck. There were damages to other parts of his body.

The dead teen’s parents joined the Court case virtually today and before sentencing, they told the Court that their son whose life was cut short, was full of promise and was being trained to become a filmmaker at the time of his death.

The father said he was saddened and disappointed that someone that the family knew well was responsible for their son’s murder and lied about everything after the teen went missing.

The Judge told the convict that he should not even be allowed to dwell among human beings, as he handed down the death sentence.

Guyana has not enforced a death sentence in over 25 years.
