The spike in COVID-19 cases in Guyana is continuing rapidly and causing a major headache for healthcare workers.
The Ministry of Health reported this afternoon that in the last 24 hours, the country recorded 135 new coronavirus cases with two additional deaths.
The death toll has now reached 252. A total of 19 deaths have been recorded in the past 7 days.
The majority of the new Coronavirus cases are from Region 4.
Of the 135 new cases, 87 are from Region 4 which now has 546 active cases.
Region 3 is also seeing a spike in new cases, with 18 new cases being recorded in the past 24 hours in that region. The West Demerara region currently has 284 active cases.
There are 97 active cases in Region 7, a total of 59 active cases in Region 6 and Region 10 has 52 active cases.
Across Guyana, there are now 1084 active cases with 1015 of those positive persons in home isolation while 69 are hospitalised.
