Guyanese teacher found murdered in The Bahamas

Police investigators in The Bahamas are investigating the brutal murder of a Guyanese woman who works in the island as a High School teacher.

35-year-old Marisha Bowen was found stabbed to death early this morning in her Summer Street Nassau Village apartment unit this morning.

According to Bahamas Press, Police arrived on the scene shortly after 9am this morning after concerns arose that the educator did not show up to work.

According to media reports, loud screams were heard coming from the woman’s apartment just before 7 o’ clock this morning but no one called the Police as the screams ended and neighbours thought it may have been a domestic dispute.

The woman was discovered with several stab wounds to her body and blood was splattered across the apartment, according to reports.

Press reports from The Bahamas state that there appears to have been no forced entry into the apartment based on evidence, the suspect who is on the run, may have been known to the victim.

Bowen was a teacher at the Charles Saunders High School in The Bahamas and was graduate of the Cyril Potter College of Education and the University of Guyana.

Investigations are continuing and her relatives in Guyana have been informed of the murder.

The incident records the second homicide for the month of September and the 69th incident for the year in The Bahamas, according to Bahamas Press.
