A Linden man, who has been identified as 18-year-old Reagan Richards, was shot dead on Sunday night after he overpowered a policeman and shot the policeman to the head in the Wisroc Police Outpost.

Reports out of Linden suggest that the policeman was about to place Richards in the lockups when he was suddenly attacked and overpowered by him.

Richards who is believed to be mentally unstable reportedly snatched the officer’s service weapon and shot him to the head and attempted to escape but was shot by other policemen on the scene.

The assailant was pronounced dead at the Linden Hospital while the policeman was rushed into surgery for his head injury. There are reports that he might be rushed to Georgetown if he is not stabilized.
