There continues to be an upsurge in violent crimes in the mining communities deep in the Guyana jungles as more persons get involved in gold and diamond mining.
Police Investigators are probing the death of yet another miner. 42 year old miner, Michael Morris of Sophia was reportedly involved in an altercation with some other miners on Monday, November 18 at West Park Backdam, Cuyuni.
According to a police report, from information received, during the altercation, Morris was hit to the head with a piece of wood by one of the other miners and he collapsed and died.
The Guyana Police Force said his body was being brought out of the mining area and taken to Bartica before being brought to the city for post mortem.
The suspect is not yet arrested.
