New Director of CDC appointed

The Prime Minister thanked the outgoing Director General, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig for his years of service to the CDC. Lt. Colonel Craig has opted for early retirement from the Guyana Defence Force.

New Director of CDC appointed

The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) has announced the appointment of retired Colonel Nazrul Hussain as the new Director-General of the Civil Defence Commission.

Mr. Hussain is currently the Head of the Government enacted COVID-19 Taskforce.

The appointment was made by Prime Minister Mark Phillips who ushered in the new Director General at a ceremony at the CDC Headquarters in Thomas Lands.

The Prime Minister thanked the outgoing Director General, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig for his years of service to the CDC. Lt. Colonel Craig has opted for early retirement from the Guyana Defence Force.

According to a statement from the CDC, Deputy Director-General, Major Loring Benons who has been acting in the top position, has indicated that the staff of the Commission will continue to strive toward excellence with the new leadership.

Colonel (Ret’d) Nazrul Hussain said that he is eager to learn more about the government entity and is ready to maintain the level of exemplary results produced by the CDC.
