The International Building Expo being hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Water opens on Friday at the National Stadium in Providence and will continue until Sunday.

The event which is being promoted as the largest building expo in the Caribbean has caught the eyes of a number of international companies that have an interest in the housing and construction sectors.

Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal has indicated that more than 25 international companies will join the scores of local companies for the expo. He said a number of areas related to home building and designs will be showcased at the three-day event.

“If you are talking about construction, we are going to have the contractors themselves, and in terms of design, we have a lot of persons who have signed up and want to show their creativity and give you options for when you want to come up with a design for your house and you want to be modernized”, Minister Croal said.

The Building Expo has also enlisted the commercial banks which are going to be present with many of them planning to conduct on-site interviews and pre-approval for loans and mortgages.

“We can’t talk home construction and home ownership without asking how do you evolve into making your lives easier and being able to access financing and being able to acquire your own home. So the financial institutions are on board”, the Minister announced.

He said a number of furniture manufacturing companies and furniture stores as well as hardware stores will make up the building expo.

Additionally, model houses have been constructed on the tarmac of the Stadium to give prospective homeowners a peek into some of the homes that they could build for themselves
