PM Phillips warns against putting investment at risk with political choice

Pleading with Guyanese not to put Guyana’s trade and investment with other countries at risk, Prime Minister Mark Phillips is urging citizens not to throw their support behind the We Invest in Nationhood party and its Presidential Candidate, Azruddin Mohamed.

Mohamed remains sanctioned by the US Government, but has been ploughing ahead with his political campaign.

“Guyana must be safe for investors coming into Guyana. That is a Guyana we need. And comrades, comrades, listen carefully.  You have a vested role because you have an interest.  Listen carefully. It is ensuring that Guyana remains a country that can trade with any other country in the world that can attract investments from any other country, any large investment companies from any country in the world,” the Prime Minister told supporters on Saturday in Anna Regina.

He said to ensure Guyana remains safe, Guyanese must support the incumbent.

“If you have an interest that Guyana must never be a sanctioned country, you cannot vote for sanctioned man. Don’t vote for no sanctioned person. I’m telling you that by association, you contaminate it. So don’t associate with anybody who gets sanctioned. You know, old people say,  this is a famous Guyanese proverb,  and I think all y’all know it. You can’t go to crab dance without your foot getting mud. You can’t go to crab dance without your foot getting mud. So don’t go and dance with them,” Phillips said.

He said the PPP/C needs another 5-year-term in office to continue the work it started, adding that citizens can look forward to additional measures to improve their lives and livelihoods.

“Vote Dr Irfaan Ali for president again; vote for continued economic growth, vote for shared prosperity. Vote for development.  And, once you vote like that, very soon, very shortly, Dr. Ali will be governor, the president, the president for the next five years,” he said.

Reflecting on the last five years, Prime Minister Phillips, who is a retired GDF Chief of Staff, said regardless of race and political orientation, the PPP/C Government has acted in the best interest of all Guyanese, continues to push for One Guyana.

“Forward together for a better Guyana. A Guyana all of us must be proud of. Isn’t that what you need?  So, don’t be distracted. Don’t be distracted,” he pleaded with the supporters.

The PPP is heading to the mining town of Linden on Sunday with its next political rally.
