Police destroy two acres of marijuana field on Essequibo Coast

On Saturday police ranks conducted a drug eradication operation in the Onderneeming Backdam on the Essequibo Coast and discovered a two-acre size field of marijuana plants.

The Guyana Police Force continues to step up its fight against illegal narcotics.

On Saturday police ranks conducted a drug eradication operation in the Onderneeming Backdam on the Essequibo Coast and discovered a two-acre size field of marijuana plants.

The plants were under cultivation and they were all destroyed.

Over 4,200 plants were found with an average height of 30 cms.  Additionally the police carried out a search at a nearby camp where they discovered over 200 pounds of dried marijuana.

The camp with the dried marijuana was also destroyed.

No one was found in the area so no arrests were made.
