Two persons were taken into custody last evening in Tabatinga, Lethem after Police investigators in the southern town found more than 100 pounds of compressed marijuana and 21 pounds of cocaine.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said that based on information, Police officers based in the area went to the location and spotted a man running from an incomplete structure.
A search of the structure revealed the marijuana and cocaine in a total of 61 parcels.
The owner of the building was arrested and another man was held after he attempted to bribe the lawmen with a sum of cash in order to have the drugs returned to him.
Both men remain in custody and are expected to be transported to Georgetown along with the illegal drugs, as the investigation widens.
The names of the two men who have been arrested were not released, but charges are to be filed within days.
