Three more unvaccinated persons have died from COVID-19 according to the Ministry of Health.
In its latest COVID-19 report which was issued last evening, the Ministry of Health reported that all three of the latest fatalities were women who were not vaccinated against the virus.
Two were from the East Berbice-Corentyne Region while the other was from the Demerara-Mahaica area. Their ages were given as 69, 76, and 84 years old and two of them passed away on Christmas Day while the third victim died on Christmas Eve.
The death toll in the East Berbice-Corentyne region has been climbing steadily in the past two weeks, with more than 10 deaths recorded in that area.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is encouraging persons to safeguard themselves against the virus and get vaccinated.
There are currently more than 700 active cases in the country with the majority of those persons asked to isolate themselves at home.
