Two Lindeners charged over “blessings circle ” fraud

Two Lindeners who encouraged their alleged victims “to bring two people and $21,500” have now found themselves before the Court facing fraud charges in relation to a “blessings circle” financial investment.

41-year-old minibus driver, Dwayne Charles aka Uncle from Central Amelia Ward and 48-year-old accountant, Claire Joseph from the same area appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrates’ Court today and were slapped with five charges of obtaining money by false pretense.

According to the charges, earlier this year, the two accused obtained money under false pretense from Gavin Munroe, Vernon Richmond, Leslie Jervis, Odetta Hall, and Salome Henry.

The victims forked out $21,500 each on the promise of higher returns, but they never got the money as promised.

The man and the woman pleaded not guilty to the charges and were both placed on $40,000 bail each.

The matter has been adjourned to the 12th January. The two accused were forced to lodge their passports and will have to make weekly visits to the Police in Linden as the investigations continue.
