He was slapped with the charges of assault with intent to prevent lawful apprehension, abusive language, and disorderly behavior.

In Court, he also pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and was remanded to prison until the 17th May.

The two men were caught on video beating a traffic Police officer just outside the Movietowne compound on Friday, which was a holiday.

The Policeman was reportedly attempting to arrest the construction worker over a number of traffic offences when the two got into a fist fight. Moments later, the other man, Mark Cromwell was seen arriving at the scene and immediately attacking the Police Officer, repeatedly punching him to the face and head.

It was an ex-policeman who was in the area, that rushed to the aid of the badly beaten traffic cop, and pulled the two men away. While Edwards was arrested, Cromwell, who is well known to law enforcement, drove away from the scene.

Acting Police Commissioner, Clifton Hicken, has expressed outrage over the incident and made it clear that such acts will not be tolerated.
