US Embassy remains cautious as recent threats addressed -Ambassador Lynch

“We take any threat to the US Embassy or the US interest very seriously, and we have addressed that threat, and we are pleased that we were able to work with local law enforcement and we have the full support of the Government,” Ambassador Lynch told News Source on the side-lines of the Annual Police Officers’ Conference at Eve Leary earlier today.

US Embassy remains cautious as recent threats addressed -Ambassador Lynch

Breaking her silence on the recent reports of threats being made against U.S interests in Guyana, the American Ambassador, Sarah-Ann Lynch said those threats have been addressed but the US remains cautious.

Late last month, the US Embassy informed its citizens that it had increased security protocols due to receiving threats against U.S interests.

The nature of the threats have never been made known, but the Ambassador said the Embassy remains cautious and on alert.

“We take all these threats again, very seriously, and we are always on alert to follow things very carefully,” the US Ambassador said.

When the US Embassy issued an alert cautioning US citizens in Guyana after the reported threats were uncovered, it did not immediately inform the Home Affairs Ministry or the Police Force.  In fact, the Government learnt of the threat through media reports.
