A nail technician’s career switch has landed her in the custody of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit after she was busted at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with a quantity of cocaine in frozen curry and frozen pepperpot.
33-year-old Malika Lambert was preparing to board a flight to Panama with connections to New York when CANU agents at the airport became suspicious of two large bowls of frozen curry and pepperpot that she had in one of her checked bags.
The agents decided to carry out an additional examination of the two bowls and the cocaine was found wrapped and concealed in the bowls.
Lambert was immediately arrested and taken into custody. The cocaine weighed more than 13 pounds.
The accused drug trafficker is expected in Court before the end of the week.
