At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, 33-year-old Mark Gomes, 33-year-old Ryan Fowler and 38-year-old Muhammed Kadir were all charged over last Thursday’s drug bust on Sherriff Street. Gomes and Kadir were remanded to jail while Fowler was sentenced to four years in jail after he entered a guilty plea.

The three men were busted with just over five pounds of cocaine in an engine oil bottle. The Court learnt that they were observed ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit last Thursday evening during a handover of the cocaine.

After witnessing the exchange, CANU ranks moved in and conducted a search. One of the men, Ryan Fowler, told the Court that he would like to accept responsibility for the cocaine. He was sentenced to four years in jail and fined $6 Million dollars.

However, the Prosecutor indicated that CANU will still move ahead with the case against the other two men. With that, the two men, Mark Gomes and Muhammed Kadir were both remanded to jail.

Mark Gomes

Just two months ago, Mark Gomes’ father, popular businessman, Andre “Zipper” Gomes, was remanded to jail following another drug bust. Last year too, Zipper’s reputed wife was sentenced to jail after she pleaded guilty to the discovery of a large quantity of cocaine that was found in the Campbellville house where she lived.

News Source understands that CANU ranks have been tracking and tracing the son and his accomplices for months and decided to move in on them last Thursday during the handover.
