Massy 10K Road race takes place this Sunday.

When the annual Massy 10K Road Race goes off this Sunday, there will be a new route for the seventh edition.

The race will now start at Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara and end just in front of the Massy Ruimveldt location.

President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson has already indicated that in the previous edition, the Demerara Harbour Bridge usually separates the boys from the men but this year the schedule for the bridge does not facilitate the race as it is slated to run from 06:00 hrs and the bridge is closing at 05:30 hrs .

Five time winner of the event, Cleveland Forde has already indicated that he will be looking to better his time and defend his title as the top runner; however, Winston Missigher will be looking to dethrone the champion.

Forde will be setting his sights on bettering the 33 minute mark, confident that he can run around 32 minutes while Missigher, who defeated Forde in the Gold Mile road race, will want to prove to the country that his win over Forde was no fluke.

Both runners are in top shape ahead of the race.

Apart from the usual prizes of trophies and hampers the top male and female runners will cart off with $75,000. Additionally, all the runners to cross the finish line located at the Massy headquarters, Ruimveldt will have their numbers entered into a drawing bag to have the chance at winning a special prize of one laptop computer.

Hutson explained that the prizes were a way the organizers wanted to encourage participants and reward those runners who showed great fitness and wellbeing as well as help improve in the sport.

All athletes are advised that they are to assemble at the Massy headquarters prior to the race in order to be transported to the starting point prior to the race.
