Police investigating the brutal murder of 55-year-old Surujdai Kahriu of Corneila Ida, West Coast Demerara, have arrested her 24-year-old son for the crime.
The woman’s lifeless body was discovered in her house on Thursday night by another son, who alerted the Police and emergency services.
The woman appeared to have been repeatedly slashed across her neck and other parts of the body.
Police investigators believed the murder took place sometime between Thursday afternoon and late Thursday night.
The suspect was arrested at the house as he was found there with the body of his mother.
The Police confirmed that the 55-year-old woman’s body bore multiple marks of violence. As part of the investigations, video recordings from CCTV cameras in the area are being examined.
