A 14-year-old student of a secondary school at Tuschen on the East Bank of Essequibo was taken into custody on Thursday following the stabbing of two other boys from the same school.
The incident took place on Thursday morning. The two injured boys were rushed to the emergency room at a nearby hospital, and are both in a stable condition recovering well.
In a statement this morning, the Guyana Police Force explained that the 14-year-old suspect and another teen were involved in a scuffle when the two other boys, who are both 15-years-old, attempted to intervene.
The Police report stated that the two boys were threatened by the suspect and threatened again when they left the area to report the incident to the Headteacher.

A scuffle reportedly broke out between one of boys and the suspect and during that altercation, the 14-year-old armed himself with a sharp object and repeatedly stabbed the other two boys.
One of them suffered injuries to his left hand and chest, while the other received injuries to his right hand.
The Police said several teachers at the school intervened and apprehended the suspect, while the injured students were taken to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital.
The suspect was subsequently contacted by police, told of the allegation made against him and arrested in accordance with the procedures applicable to juveniles. He was then escorted to the Tuschen Police Station, where he was placed in custody.
The Education Minister, Sonia Parag, visited the school yesterday afternoon and also visited the two injured students at the hospital. The matter remains under investigation.
