As Police investigators continue to track down all of the suspects in the August 2016 gunning down of an ex-murder accused in Laing Avenue, another suspect found himself before the Court to fact the murder charge today after being caught by police.
24-year-old Jermain Jefford, was today remanded to prison for the murder of Orin David. He was found hiding out in French Guiana and according to court documents, he was once a member of the Guyana Defence Force.
In court today, he was not required to plea to the indictable murder charge, but on his way out of the Courtroom, relatives of the dead man shouted several insults at the accused. “How you could murder the man in front he son”, one relative shouted, as others raised their voices for justice.
Orin David was shot dead in front of his six-year-old son by five gunmen, who exited a car and riddled his body with bullets. In 2015, he was freed of a murder charge after spending five years in jail, awaiting his trial. Investigators believe that his murder may have been a hired revenge killing.
Another man was charged last year with the same murder and it is believed at least two other men are on the run.
