Calls for Home Affairs Ministry and Police Force to release full RSS review

There are calls for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Guyana Police Force to release the full report submitted by a Regional Security Services investigator who reviewed the Police probe of the murder of biker Ricardo Fagundes and claims of a cover-up in the investigations.

In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs said the RSS investigation found no evidence of a cover-up and that the investigation into the murder of the biker is being properly probed.

However, the RSS investigator never interviewed Police Detective, Sergeant Dion Bascom who has made claims of a cover-up in the probe.

In a statement on his Facebook page, the Police Detective confirmed that he was never questioned by the RSS investigator.

His Attorney Nigel Hughes has since written to the Police Commissioner requesting a full copy of the RSS investigation and findings.

The Attorney said there are clear flaws in the Ministry’s statement about the probe, noting that Bascom was never interviewed and that would therefore raise credibility concerns about the investigation.

It is unclear whether there are any plans for the full review by the Regional Security Services to be released.
