A chain snatcher was shot dead in the Stabroek Market area this afternoon by a licensed firearm holder when he attempted to snatch a gold chain from around the neck of the firearm holder’s wife.
The husband and wife were in the busy area shopping and while they were in the vicinity of the Stabroek clock area, the woman was attacked by three youths with one of them trying to relieve her of her gold jewellery.
The woman’s husband immediately pulled out his firearm and open fire, hitting one of the bandits to the body while the other two bolted from the scene as other shoppers and vendors also sought cover.
