The Audi Q5 Sport Utility Vehicle belonging to murdered physician, Dr. Colin Roach and which was stolen from outside his office where he was found dead, has been recovered.
The vehicle was found abandoned last night along the Schoonard main road on the West Coast of Demerara.
News Source understands that its license plates were removed and other items from inside the car are also missing.
Sources close to the investigation have indicated to News Source that based on CCTV video footage from buildings around the Doctor’s Duke Street office, investigators were able to positively identify the main suspect.
The main suspect was reportedly seen entering the doctor’s office early on Tuesday night. It is suspected that he was behind the steering wheel when Dr. Roach’s car was seen being driven away from the building hours later.
Police sources have also revealed that the two employees from the doctor’s office who were taken into custody have been able to provide information to the investigators about the suspect after he was recognised on the surveillance video recordings. The suspect is reportedly someone who was known to the Doctor and his staff members.
The 49-year-old physician who was one of two doctors authorized to conduct medical examinations in Guyana for US immigrant visas, was found murdered on Wednesday night by two of his staff members who live in an apartment above the medical centre where they worked.
One of the staff members used his key to enter the medical centre after noticing that the lights were still on. He discovered the doctor’s bloodied body and immediately raised an alarm and contacted the Police and emergency services.
Dr. Roach was found lifeless with a wound to the side of his face. Investigators believe he was struck to the head and beaten to the head using an object in his office.
The probe is continuing.
