The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority has been notified of the plane's discovery and the arrest of its pilot and co-pilot.

Two foreign men, a Colombian and a Venezuelan, are in Police custody after their small plane made an emergency landing on the Mahdia Airstrip this evening in Region 8.

The two have been identified as Juan David Caicedo Villa and Riascos Gomes.

The small plane made its unauthorized landing at the airstrip just after 6 o’clock this evening.

The Police were immediately summoned and once on the scene, investigators arrested the two men.

News Source understands that a search of the aircraft did not reveal anything illegal.
