The Multi-Agency Coordinating Committee for Addressing the Influx of Venezuelan Migrants into Guyana, has been resuscitated by the Government.
The committee met recently to give attention to the migrant situation through a coordinated effort between the Guyana Government and international partners.
The multi-agency committee was formed under the last government and worked in several communities and with international partners to address the influx of Venezuelans who were fleeing their homeland.
The agency is now expected to continue examining the mean of strengthening its capacity through policies to prevent uncoordinated and duplicated activities when addressing the issue.
Discussions have been focused on irregular border crossings and the registration of migrants.
The agency is also looking at programmes that are in place to assist migrants.
