Family demands justice in Linden accident that claimed life of 53-year-old remigrant

An early evening out at a football game for a couple in Linden ended tragically on the 16th November when a speeding car hit down and killed 53-year-old re-migrant and Linden resident, Cecil Boston.

Boston and his wife were walking to the side of the Speightland Access Road in Mackenzie to be picked up by a taxi when a car with bright lights on came speeding towards them. The wife was flung out of the way, but the 53-year-old man was hit head on, smashing against the bonnet and windscreen of the car before he was thrown onto the roadway.

Boston was eventually picked up at the scene by his wife and others and taken to the Mackenzie Hospital. He died while being transferred to the Georgetown Hospital. Doctors found that he suffered from multiple injuries including a fractured neck, broken arms and legs and severe damages to his spine and his head. He never regained consciousness.

More than a week later, the Police investigations are ongoing and the family is demanding justice.

A Police report stated that a man identified as the driver of the car was taken into custody and a Breathalyzer test found that he was intoxicated. The driver reportedly worked at a car wash bay in Amelia’s Ward and had taken the car belonging to a customer for a drive, when the accident occurred.

Family members of the dead man say they want a thorough investigation to be done and for full charges to be laid in the matter. The investigation file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
