There is growing concern about the new variant of COVID-19 which has been detected in a number of countries around the world.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony today said scientists and the medical community are still gathering information on the new variant. He said Guyana might soon have to submit samples to be tested for the new COVID-19 variant which is believed to be more infectious and faster spreading.
The Government has not made any decision about tightening border control in wake of the new variant. The current measures for incoming travelers to be fully vaccinated and present a negative COVID-19 test result will remain in place.
