Linden youth stabbed to death during roadside row

A row between two men in Amelia’s Ward, Linden on Sunday evening has left a 23-year-old labourer dead, and his 38-year-old assailant behind bars facing a possible murder charge.

Police have identified the dead youth as Tafawa Alexander of Wismar, Linden. The murder suspect’s name has not been released.

According to a Police statement, the two men were involved in an altercation at Lover’s Lane in Amelia’s Ward and during that altercation, the 38-year-old man allegedly armed himself with a knife and repeatedly stabbed Alexander about his body.

The injured man was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Police said his body was examined and stab wounds were observed to the left side upper chest, left upper arm and the left side of his head.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where he is presently in custody.

A knife suspected to have been used during the incident was recovered and lodged.

The suspect could face the Courts before the end of the week.
