As many as 1000 persons are expected to be hired to meet the needs of the additional Teleperformance location in Guyana, which opened its doors today.
The company is renting a massive building that was recently constructed on Middle Street.
In delivering the feature address at the launching of the new location this afternoon, President Irfaan Ali said the commissioning of the mega facility is testimony of Teleperformance’s commitment to the people of Guyana.
“I am very pleased to be associated with this event today because Teleperformance, and the work you are doing here is invaluable. Your commitment to Guyana, your trust in the Guyanese people, and your confidence in the economy is backed by your decision making, and that is to expand your footprint in your business here,” President Ali told those present.
Teleperformance provides end-to-end service delivery including solution design, business optimization and transformation strategies, customer support and tech services for major international companies.
The high-rise, state-of-the-art facility located at Middle Street, Georgetown will complement the Robb Street Office, where some 1,500 Guyanese are providing digitally integrated business services to companies in the US.
President Ali said his Administration is taking critical steps to advance the country’s IT Sector.
To support, BPO Call Centres in Guyana, he said the Government will be building shells in Linden and Berbice – a move that would see the creation of hundreds of jobs.
“Like you, we have offered to all the providers in Guyana the opportunity to expand their footprint. We are building the shell; we will complete the shell in Region 6 very soon, Region 10, Region 2 and Region 3. Those are the four regions initially that we are completing the call centres, the shell, built specially for your industry,” the President said.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Teleperformance Middle Americas Regions, Andrés Bernal disclosed that the Middle Street Office will harvest the dreams of 1,000 Guyanese.
He explained that since the beginning of 2016, Teleperformance Guyana has become an important player in industry, providing critical services to the United States of America market.
“From the get go, since the very beginning, the Guyanese Teleperformance team has proven the many qualities and top-class services it possesses. With 1,500 Guyanese we can share this country’s outstanding talent and excellent attributes with the world,” the CEO said.
He said the team persevered during the global pandemic though confronting many challenges. He said today’s commissioning ceremony is evident of the partnership the company shares with the Guyanese.
In his address, Teleperformance Country Manager, Luis Barreto said with the help of the Colombia Teleperformance Team, Teleperformance Guyana has made significant strides since 2016.
“Guyana Teleperformance is now recognized as one of the top delivery offices in the Region. Part of that comes from our ability to one, sell our product, which is the country, the people, the technology and the services that we offer. But two, most importantly we are able to pitch to now technological companies and be able to sell the company as one that has the ability to reach out to different entities, industries and logos,” he explained.
Teleperformance Guyana currently supports 10 US companies, including some of the major top brands.
In Guyana, the company’s operations represents a 100% Guyanese workforce.
