President announces 13th Parliament to be convened on 3rd November, 2025

President Irfaan Ali has announced that the 13th Parliament will be convened on Monday, 3rd November, which is exactly four months after the dissolution of the 12 Parliament on July 4 to prepare make way for National Elections which took place on the 1st September.

The Opposition political parties, especially the WIN party, have expressed concern over the delay in convening the new Parliament, but the Government has repeatedly explained that the Constitution allows the President four months from the time of dissolution to reconvene Parliament.

In a brief Address to the Nation today, the President announced the appointed date, time and venue for the first Sitting of the House.

“Now therefore, in pursuant of Article 69 (1) of the Constitution, I do hereby appoint the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Georgetown Guyana as the place where the first 1st session of the thirtieth Parliament shall be held at 2oclk in the Afternoon on Monday 03rd November, 2025 as the time and date when such session shall begin,” the President announced.

When the new Parliament is convened, four parties will be represented, with the People’s Progressive Party taking up 36 seats, the We Invest In Nationhood with 16 seats, A Partnership for National Unity with 12 seats and Forward Guyana Movement with 1 seat.

The Clerk of the National Assembly recently stated that he has already received a letter from the Chief Elections Officer declaring the persons who have been elected to serve as Members of Parliament. He said the Parliament Office has started to put administrative procedures in place for the first sitting.
