“Sir Coen” freed of remaining sexual activity charges

Almost five years since he was first charged for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a child below the age of 16, High School teacher, Coen Jackson has been cleared of all of the remaining charges following a decision of the complainant to no longer proceed with the complaint, thereby withdrawing her allegations.

The matter was being heard by Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who was forced to instruct the jury to return a verdict of not guilty after the Court was informed that the complainant was withdrawing the allegations against him.

In 2022, a jury found him not guilty of the charge of sexual activity of a child under the age of 16 by abusing a position of trust.

With him being freed of all of the remaining charges this morning, he offered thanks to all those persons who stood by his side over the past five years. He has always maintained his innocence, although he had admitted to being in relationships with former students who had completed school.

When Jackson was initially charged, the Court heard that between December 2010 and May 2011, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.

The charge came five months after the allegations against him first surfaced on social media.

The accusations were first made by Author, Ruel Johnson, who was a Government Advisor at the time.

Johnson was married to an ex-girlfriend of Jackson.

The High School teacher has always maintained that it was really Johnson who was pushing the allegations against him and who used his position in the Government to get the Police involved in the matter and the complaints filed.

Jackson had claimed that the accusations against him had been concocted by Johnson over disagreements that the two shared on social media.

Johnson repeatedly denied the claim by Jackson, however, Jackson filed a private civil suit against him over his repeated statements on social media and won that case.

Ruel Johnson was ordered to pay $5 million in damages to Jackson.
