Speeding tops list of over 1000 traffic offenses recorded in three days

The Guyana Police Force is stepping up its monitoring of the country’s roadways, and according to the Force’s Public Relations Department, within the span of three days, more than 1000 traffic cases were filed against errant road users.

Of the more than 1000 cases, the majority were for speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

On Sunday, September 10th, 2023, three hundred and seventy-seven (377) cases were made, while on Monday, September 11th, 2023, three hundred and fifty-eight (358) cases were made, and another 315 cases were made out against errant road users on Tuesday.

The Police said the committed efforts by the Traffic Department have been intensified to curb the poor and reckless use of the roadways by motorists.

The country has recorded more than 145 road deaths since the start of the year, and the majority of those cases are being blamed on speeding.
