Three men were remanded to prison today while a teen was placed on bail after they were allegedly busted with over 22 pounds of cocaine.
The drug bust was conducted by the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit.
Appearing before the Chief Magistrate today were 49-year-old, Denzel Parks, 47-year-old, Ricardo Denhart, 24-year-old Patrick Ram and a 14-year-old boy.
They all told the Court that they are not guilty.
The Court learnt on the 14th August in the parking lot of the Popeyes restaurant on Vlissingen Road, the four were found with 22 pounds of cocaine in their possession.
On the day in question, CANU ranks were conducting a sting operation in the area when it is alleged they noticed one of the accused, Ricardo Denhart, carying a multi-colored shopping bag to a bus that was parked in the same area.
The ranks moved in on the bus and a search was conducted, revealing the cocaine. It was stashed at the back of the driver’s seat.
After listening to the facts of the matter, the Chief Magistrate remanded the three men to jail, but granted bail in the sum of $200,000 to the 14-year-old.
The matter will return to court later this month.
