The Health Ministry also announced that the country has 88 new cases of the disease with Region 4 recording 65 of the 88 new cases.

Two additional deaths and 88 new cases of COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic in Guyana claimed two additional lives, taking the death toll up to 137. The two latest fatalities are both 74-years-old, a man from Region 10, and a woman from Region 4.

The Health Ministry also announced that the country has 88 new cases of the disease with Region 4 recording 65 of the 88 new cases.

Most of the new cases are believed to be from the Indigenous settlement of St. Cuthbert’s Mission which is in Region 4.

There are more than 800 active cases of coronavirus in Guyana with the majority of those persons in home isolation. The number of positive cases in home isolation has not gone below 700 in more than six weeks.

The Health Ministry has also reported that there are 10 persons in the Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit.
