Two Guyanese women were taken into custody at the Ogle International Airport on Friday after they were busted with cocaine while attempting to board a LIAT late night flight to Barbados.
Investigators have revealed that the bust took place just after 8:30pm on Friday. Officers attached to the Narcotics branch of the Guyana Police Force carried out the bust and made the arrests.
One of the women was found with just over three pounds of cocaine in her possession while the other was busted with over two pounds in her possession. Investigators have not revealed their names.
Security has been stepped up at the Ogle International Airport after LIAT launched two additional flights including a late night flight to Barbados. The airline previously only operated one flight per day.
Both women are expected in court on Monday.
