Presidential Candidate of the APNU+AFC coalition David Granger believes the coalition is on its way to victory and he is convinced that the group has handed in a list of integrity.

The coalition was swarmed with hundreds of supporters on Tuesday as leaders and supporters marched from the Square of the Revolution. There were shouts of “we need change, Guyana wants change” as the coalition members decked out in their green and yellow outfits marched through the streets.

The coalition’s list was handed over to the Elections Commission by former University of Guyana Vice Chancellor, Professor Harold Lutchman who is also a candidate on the list.

“We have a lot of mess to clean up so we need competent people as well,” he said as loud upbeat Party jingles were being sang by supporters who had crowded Regent Street.

Meanwhile, Mr. Granger said the PPP’s decision to include former President Bharrat Jagdeo on its list was a bad one. Mr. Jagdeo’s inclusion on the list came as one of the biggest surprises, having insisted that he had no interest in being on the party’s list or being elected to constitutional office.

Granger did not seem too surprised and insisted that the move was a danger that the PPP Civic would have to deal with.

“I don’t think people want to hear from him after years of crime and corruption,” Granger said. He said too that Jagdeo has been known to say things that are not consistent with the truth.

Two weeks back the former President had indicated that he will be playing a major role in the PPP Civic’s campaign but not as candidate. He is expected to address a fundraising activity in the United States with Party supporters this week.
