Confusion reigned in Leopold Street, Georgetown just after 11 o’ clock this morning as a row between two men quickly escalated and ended with gunfire.
According to reports, two men appeared to be involved in a heated argument when one of them left the scene and returned with a group of other men in a car. Gunshots rang out from the car, forcing residents to scamper to cover.
A woman who was standing nearby was hit by a bullet and rushed to the hospital. She is believed to be the only one who was hit.
Investigators were quick on the scene and cordoned off the area as they tried to get information from residents about the car that was used in the drive-by.
Information led ranks to Penny Lane in the South Ruimveldt area where the car that was reportedly used in the incident was found.
A number of persons are being questioned as the probe gets underway.
