Young soldier dies in Linden Highway accident

A 26-year-old member of the Guyana Defence Force lost his life this morning when he lost control of his Toyota 212 motorcar and crashed into trees along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway at Hairuni.

The dead soldier was identified as Wilmot Warde of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.

Investigators suspect that he was speeding when he lost control of his car ending up off of the roadway and into trees and the bushes.

The man was pulled from the wreckage by residents of the area and rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

An investigation into the accident has been launched. A post-mortem examination is to be performed on the body.
