Youth busted smuggling ammunition into jailhouse

Twenty nine-year old Kelon Benjamin of Station Street Kitty was arrested on Monday after he was busted allegedly attempting to smuggle two 12 gauge shotgun cartridges into the Camp Street Prison.

Reports state that Prison officers were searching the items Benjamin took to the jail house for his cousin who is an inmate, when the discovery was made.

The cartridges were discovered in the left side of a pair of boots. The young man said he was unaware that the ammunition was hidden in the pair of boots. He was handed over to ranks of the Alberttown Police Station to be further quizzed.

He could face charges later in the week.
