A 43-year-old motorcyclist lost his life this morning as he slammed into a truck just after overtaking another vehicle. The accident took place along the Kendall Public Road in East Berbice.
Police have identified the dead biker as Ajay Ramchand of Nigg Settlement, Berbice.
Ramchand was riding his high-powered motorcycle when he overtook a vehicle and rode directly into the front of a truck that was being driven in the opposite direction.
The impact of the head-on collision saw the motorcycle bursting into flames and some of the motorcyclists clothes being burned off his body. He was pronounced dead at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The driver of the truck was taken into custody for questioning. The entire incident was captured on CCTV video from a nearby house.
The tragedy is under investigation.
