Tributes pour in after passing of GMSA President

The Private Sector in Guyana has been plunged into a state of shock with the sudden passing of the President of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association, Eon Caesar.

Caesar passed away on Friday in neighbouring Trinidad shortly after he was medivaced to a specialty hospital there.  He was 43-years-old.

Mr. Caesar who served as the Managing Director for Safeway Security became the President of the Manufacturers and Services Association nine months ago.

In a statement, the Association said that he has left behind an entity (GMSA) that was only just beginning to benefit from his expertise in Business Management and his passion for Information Communication Technology (ICT).

“In the past six (6) months, he had spearheaded the design, and led the early implementation of a proactive Strategic Plan to align the GMSA even more closely with industry stakeholders, among other things”, the group said.

According to the GMSA, “Eon Caesar’s passing is a shock, the after effects of which will linger for a very long time.  We especially regret the fact that he will not be able to implement the new measures he had designed to enhance the effectiveness of the GMSA, and to participate in the nation’s drive to digitize our businesses, services and civil society as a whole.”

The GMSA has expressed its deepest condolences to Eon Caesar’s dear wife Saudia, and children and to the staff of Safeway Security.

And President David Granger has joined in expressing sympathy to the Caesar family.

In a statement, the President said Mr. Caesar, who was an Electrical Engineer by profession and whose company was established in 2006 soon after he graduated from the University of the West Indies, will be remembered for his passion for the development of the Information and Communication Technology sector and his ability to find quick solutions to the most challenging of problems.

“This passion had earned him a reputation for a high standard of electronic solutions for domestic and public sector security and saw him heading the GMSA’s Security and Governance Sub-committee since 2013, before being elected to serve as President”, the statement said.
